Some PPE-constructed projects, such as refineries and petrochemical plants, have long been a staple in the energy industry. PPE develops and customizes these facilities to meet clients' specific needs. We also ensure that they are designed and constructed in as cost-efficient and timely a manner as possible.
PPE also excels in developing innovative solutions for challenges faced by both energy- and non-energy-industry clients. We have designed and built facilities that convert animal waste from hog farms into purified methanol - transform municipal sewage into fuel oil - and turn scrap animal fats into biodiesel. Such innovations result in profits for PPE's clients and help them reduce their businesses' impact on the global environment.
PPE has designed and constructed refineries and other facilities for more than thirty years for clients such as AMOCO, Texaco, Air Liquide, Monsanto Chemicals, and Union Carbide. PPE's team of engineers and designers can customize a facility's design to meet clients' specifications and the requirements of the particular locale. They closely monitor the equipment's manufacture in PPE's own on-site fabrication shop, and they remain a part of the process until the refinery is fully operational. Our ability to fabricate in-house means additional client cost-savings, since there is no mark-up by third-party vendors. Modular Design for Improved Efficiency PPE specializes in using modular designs to reduce clients' overall costs. The modules-such as crude units, vacuum units, cokers, and cat crackers-can be integrated to form simple or increasingly complex operating units. Modular designs reduce fabrication time, improve quality control, and allow change-order revisions with fewer work flow disruptions. They can be constructed in any location-quickly, efficiently, and safely. Refurbishing for Client Savings PPE gives clients the ability to re-engineer and relocate existing refineries at a great reduction in overall project costs. Our engineers were some of the first to refurbish a U.S. refinery. They were assisted in this project by our machine shop's ability to rebuild parts such as compressors, pumps, and mechanical systems and return them to new unit conditions. |
